The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM)

Coordinator and leader for WP1 and WP4

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) located in Spain is a young university (funded in 1985), with a high teaching and research potential. It is spread out over four main campuses: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo and two satellite campuses located in Talavera de la Reina and Almadén. It is a modern, competitive institution, which hosted 26.953 students, 2847 lecturers and researchers and 1.188 administrative and services staff members. This implies having a great human capital, making it a smart option for those who wish to improve their lifelong learning and also for international students who chase their academic, vital or language enrichment. UCLM integrates 36 academic departments offering 64 Bachelor degrees (10 of them as double degree), 57 Master degrees (4 as double degree), and 18 PhD degrees. Research policy at UCLM has allowed a great collaboration with other research institutes and due to these links, research can be carried out either outside or within our university itself by over 280 groups dedicated to it. The university was awarded with the CYTEMA distinction in 2010, as a European benchmark in energy and environmental science and technology. This project took advantage of the strengths in R+D energy and environment within the UCLM, in which it has a fortnight of research institutes, more than fifty research groups and over five hundred researchers that address the theme of Energy and the Environment from the field of engineering, experimental sciences, the social sciences and law, architecture, arts and humanities and health sciences.
